All
Classes ~ Pretty much all the specs here are designed with instance
party support in mind (most of them are horrible
at solo ;).
If your not sure what class you want to start off with, read this
article Choosing
a Class, or take this
quiz. Or just roll a hybrid class such as a Druid, and
figure out what you want to do later. =P Geared and
talented correctly most hybrid classes (Druid, Paladin, Shaman)
can fill any of the three roles of: dps, healing, or tanking (except
shaman).
Primaries
(priority roughly in this order)
Druid
~ With their extensive HoT (heal over time) options, Druids have
been and continue to have a stabilizing effect on raid healing.
Making them distinct as a healing class.
That's part of the reason why I'm dropping my priest.
Try putting 3 healers in a 10 man raid all the same class, and see
how that goes (this holds true for any healing class).
It went quite badly when I was with 2 other holy priests, on the
Prince in Kara.
You will get cases where by randomness everyone starts
casting the same type of heal, all at the same time, and the tank
dies before any of them hit. At least with a Druid you have
the HoTs working in the background, while the healers are casting
their direct heals.
Also the only other class of healer that there
are fewer of (on my server) is Shaman. But they only have
direct heals, leaving them (in my opinion) in the same section as
priests and pallys.
Other reason is, that my Druid is going to be an alchemist
(my priest is tailor / enchanter. I expect I'll lvl him and his
enchanting at the end of this expansion).
Pally
~ Prior to BC (lvl 60) prot and ret pallys were near impossible
to make viable. Raid drops didn't offer anything that wasn't for
healing. And the talents were very weak.
In WoLK the tables seem to have been turned,
and now prot Pallys are arguably the highest threat producing tank
class. (not that it affects me, but Ret pallys have also gotten
a big boost in this Xpac also)
Personal list of cooldown / situational
spells to throw into my rotation: Sacred
Shield, Divine
Plea, Avenging
Wrath, Exorcism,
Cleanse, Hand
of Salvation, Hammer
of Wrath, Avenger's
Shield
Warlock
~ Regarding the PvP specs I have, they are designed with the idea
of defending the flag in WSG and other objective orientated goals
in Battle Grounds and Arena (with the focal point being curse of
exhaustion).
Its not really designed to pump out fast DPS to get
lots of Killing Blows or Honor Kills.
It appears that a mixed spec with Fel
Guard & CoE
is the strongest PvP spec. Although full out affliction does
sound like more fun. Also afflict will be my PvE spec of choice.

Former
Mains
Priest PvE ~ In the past Discipline spec was good when you
have more confidence in your own skills and gear, than your party's
S&G (IE - pain
suppression)
Holy, on the other hand, was good if you feel that
you need some extra help from a mana-efficient, burst healing spec.
I expect this to hold true in this expansion.
Warrior ~ My warrior was my first char and first to 60, but
my priest is the only one that saw any time in MCore (Lvl 60).
Also on release of TBC (Lvl 70) I had trouble
holding aggro on multiple targets in Ramparts, so I rerolled Prot
Pally (who was my main during TBC).
I never rolled Arms or Fury
ever (try questing
with a prot warrior and you'll see why I hate questing, and to this
day I lvl all my chars in 5 man instances).

Low
Lvl Alts
Death Knight ~ Lvling him mainly so that I can say I have
an understanding of every tank class.
Shaman ~ Don't know Shammys well enough to do anything outside
of Resto. And TBH, I don't have any desire to either.
Mage ~ Arcane sounds a bit boring (in groups), but has higher
dmg output in dungeons / raids, while still having lower aggro.
Hunter ~ Keep the pet alive while beating on the enemy.
It would seem that Beast Mastery or Survival is better when leveling,
with weaker gear, or as a solo farming toon. With Marksman
being better when you have some epics.
Although I have seen a Survival hunter pull off some
insane 'crowd control' efforts. I kid you not
3 mobs
were wrapped around his little finger. One frozen
in a trap at all times, one hit with WS,
1-2 running to him (CS,
WC).
It was a redundant effort (I was on my prot pally)
but it was just so dam cool to see.
Rogue ~ TBH I can't make heads or tails of rogue talents.
I'm like a kid in a candy store.. I just want it all.
If I did make a spec though, because of all my time
spent tanking, I'd probably make a spec that would fit that mentality.
Might as well, I'm going to end up off tanking anyway (mostly casters
I expect). Should at least have a spec to support it somewhat.
